The distribution of notables' epitaphs, of cippus with foliage ornamentation and of certain graves determines dynamic sectors in the territory of the Nîmes civitas. There thus appear, for the Early Empire, some areas favoured by the elite for their land resources. This strategy could profit from the network of smaller urban centres, which acted as relays to the chief town.
