The goal of this article is to discuss aspects that show how the teaching process was adopted by early years teachers in primary education in the countryside of the state of Sergipe, during the social distancing period imposed by the pandemic in 2020. We used a qualitative approach for this research and the data, which were collected through semi-structured interviews, via telephone, were analyzed using textual discourse analysis. The results reveal that the teaching practices that occurred during the pandemic were limited to the type of internet access the children’s parents had and, because of this, printed activities were provided by the school for families to pick up biweekly.
