The Greek Sources of the Translations by Perotti and Politian of Epictetus' Encheiridion

In the fifteenth century Epictetus' Encheiridion was translated into Latin by Niccolô Perotti and by Angelo Poliziano. In this article the Greek sources of these translations are identified. Perotti made his translation from Venetus Marcianas graecus 261, which has the text of the Encheiridion as lemmata in Simplicius' commentary on this text. Poliziano used two MSS, namely Vaticanus graecus 327, which (like Venetus 261) has Simplicius' commentary with the text of the Encheiridion as lemmata, and Dresdenis Da 55, which contains a selection from the Encheiridion. There are two appendices : the first one contains a collation of the three relevant Greek MSS, the second one gives a brief description of six hitherto unknown MSS of Perotti's translation.Au quinzième siècle, le Manuel d'Épictète a été traduit en Latin par Niccolô Perotti et par Ange Politien. Dans cet article les sources grecques de ces traductions sont identifiées. Perotti a utilisé le Venetus Marcianas graecus 261, qui contient le commentaire de Simplicius sur le Manuel, avec le texte du Manuel comme lemmata dans le commentaire. Politien a travaillé sur deux manuscrits : le premier est le Vaticanas graecus 327, qui (comme le Venetus 261) a le texte du Manuel comme lemmata dans le commentaire de Simplicius ; le deuxième est le Dresdensis Da 55, qui contient une sélection du Manuel.
