The émergence and the rapid diffusion of new religious movements raises questions for the Catholic Church, its pastors and its theologians. This article analyses two significant reactions : that which was elaborated by four Roman Dicasters in 1986, and that of the 1991 consistory. Following from their analyzes and observations, the authors suggest afew corrections of ecclesial practices. The second part of the article raises its own question of agreement with the shifts in the presentation or the accent of doctrine.
