Abstract. - Soil erosion can be studied at the basin scale surveying suspended load. In this work, the longstanding data series collected at the outlet of Melarchez, sub-catchment of the Orgeval french experimental basin, have been used in an attempt of modelling. The modelling technique is statistical at the first stage laying on simple and multiple regressions and based on discharges and rainfalls as explanatory variables. The hysterisis phenomenon revealed on this basin was also considered. It seems to reduce correlations between discharge and concentration, so it must be taken into account when modelling the moving sediments mass available. We therefore assume that the suspended load flux is a function of runoff and of a soil mass likel...
