Abstract. - Since the deregulation of scheduled air transport in the United States, few new companies have survived, and the big airlines have often held out thanks to the multiplication of hub and spoke networks, through mergers, by developing their short-range fleets and by code-sharing agreements with regional companies operating feeder connections.
