Abstract. - The paper analyses the political and economic transformations in Southern Africa since the end of apartheid and the end of the Cold War. Surprisingly, the strong regional integration which was foreseen doesn't seem to be happening, one of the main reason beeing that South Africa does not see it as an absolute priority. The new international relations in the region are based on economic interests and no longer on political considerations. Consequently, South Africa, although strengthening its links with neighbours when it is of practical interest, chooses in many instances a continental or global strategy rather than a regional one.Résumé. - Le texte analyse les changements récents de la géographie politique de l'Afrique australe...
