Abstract. - In LANDSAT TM satellite imagery of September 1987 various types of vegetation cover stand against forest sectors, cultivated lands and fallow lands. Thus the composition of the forest could be considered (the hardwood part and the softwood one) as well as its structure (pruning and age of trees). The fallow lands cover a large area in Livradois and Artense. A test-site was selected in Livradois and its evolution was supervised in 1987 compared with the situation in place in 1948 has been outlined. The comparison shows the important extension of the fallow lands between these two dates.
