Abstract. - While measures adopted to combat flood losses are increased and in spite of large scale investments in engineering protection works, there is a growing flood-loss trend. The choice of adjustments to flood risk is complex. It certainly requires a comprehensive approach to both factors contributing to the disaster : the physical flood event and the human land use of floodplain.
