Abstract. - This essay addresses the issues raised by urban violence focusing on battles between inhabitants from different neighbourhoods in Jakarta. Through sn analysis of the patterns of violence, it shows the importance of such a phenomenon, not only on urban control and the constitution of new types of territories and new types of cloistering, but also on the community as such, on how it is redefined.Résumé. - Les batailles entre quartiers sont un phénomène ancien à Jakarta. Descendant d'anciennes formes de luttes entre gangs, elles sont la manifestation non seulement de dysfonctionnements mais aussi de la création de nouveaux types de territoires. Elles sont ainsi le signe de nouvelles formes d'appropriation de la ville mais aussi de recréation de structures communautaires.Tadié Jérôme.
