Abstract. -An overview of the present-day geomorphological researches carried out by the French geographers is presented. By using national and international indicators over the period 1996-2001, some major trends are identified : 1. increase of short-term studies focusing on Holocene and even historic times ; 2. development of fluvial geomorphology, geoarchaeology, and coastal geomorphology ; 3. diversification of studies devoted to the evaluation of erosion rates at various space-time scales. More generally, French geomorphologists are more and more frequently involved in interdisciplinary and/or international programmes.
