Abstract. - The well-known occurrence of earthquakes in Crete during the Minoan period has led to general interpretative theories about the large destructions of the Minoan civilization or some particular religious practices. A detailed examination of material facts, although difficult in this case, would allow a better understanding of the seismic effects.Résumé. - L'existence attestée en Crète de séismes à l'époque minoenne a conduit à des théories interprétatives générales concernant les grandes destructions de la civilisation minoenne ou certains aspects exceptionnels de la religion.
