The question of permanent aridity in the central Sahara

From investigations on present morphodynamics in the central parts of the Sahara the author concludes that at least in some parts of the vast plains west of the Ahaggar and north of the Tibesti the climatic conditions have been permanently arid to sub-arid since the Pliocene. The question remains open for the eastern central Sahara.Les conditions climatiques ont été en permanence arides à subarides depuis le Pliocène dans les vastes plaines qui s'étendent à l'ouest du Hoggar et au nord du Tibesti.
