Global change of Anthropocene exposes organisms to increasing biotic and abiotic stresses. While global warming is a threat to biodiversity, the introduction of species can also modify the functioning of ecosystems. These two components of global change are major issues in mountain areas and can lead to changes in the distribution and sustainability of local species. A vulnerable endemic urodele, the Pyrenean brook newt (Calotriton asper; Dugès, 1852) is present throughout the mountainous massif over a wide altitudinal gradient.
