The strain Saccharotrix tamanrassetensis DSM 45947, designated SA198, is a new actinobacteria species of Saharan origin, which in previous study was found to produce in the ISP2 complex medium three new antibiotic compounds with antifungal and antibacterial activities. The present study aims to explore the antimicrobial potential of the strain, to improve the antimicrobial activity production, to purify and characterize the produced molecules. The strain showed an interesting antagonist activity, in particular against pathogenic germs.
