Violette Pouillard, The Zoological Garden and the Attitude towards Wild Fauna : Managing Zoological Collections at Antwerp Zoo (1843-ca 2000) This paper provides a first sketch of the history of zoological collections management at Antwerp Zoo, from its foundation in 1843 to the present day. My purpose is to shed light on the institution’s attitude towards wild fauna and, more generally, on the way Western Europe’s relation to the wild has evolved through the Contemporary era. Particular attention is paid to notable changes made in the zoo’s fauna management at the end of the twentieth century, from the gathering of living specimens, notably by the means of supplies sent from the colony, to the protection of threatened species, an ambition erected as a real function by the zoo during the last third of the twentieth century.Violette Pouillard, Le jardin zoologique et le rapport à la faune sauvage : gestion des « collections zoologiques » au zoo d’Anvers (1843 – vers 2000) Cet article propose de retracer l’histoire de la gestion des «collections zoologiques » au jardin zoologique d’Anvers, de sa fondation, en 1843, à nos jours. Notre objectif est de mieux comprendre le rapport à la faune qu’entretient cette institution et, plus largement, d’apporter un éclairage sur l’évolution des regards et des attitudes envers l’animal sauvage en Europe occidentale aux XIXe et XXe siècles. Une attention particulière est portée au passage de la marchandisation de la faune, évoquée notamment sous le prisme de l’approvisionnement en milieu colonial belge, à la protection des espèces menacées, une ambition que le zoo a érigée en véritable fonction durant le dernier tiers du XXe siècle.Violette Pouillard, De dierentuin en de relatie met de wilde fauna : beheer van de «zoölogische verzamelingen » in de Antwerpse dierentuin (1843 – ca 2000) Dit artikel beschrijft de geschiedenis van het beheer van de «zoölogische verzamelingen » in de Antwerpse dierentuin, van zijn oprichting, in 1843, tot vandaag. Enerzijds willen we de relatie van deze instelling met de wilde fauna begrijpen ; anderzijds onderzoeken we (breder gezien) ook de evolutie van de perceptie en de houding ten opzichte van de wilde dieren in West-Europa in de negentiende en twintigste eeuw. Bijzondere aandacht gaat naar de overgang van de commodificatie van de fauna (in functie van de bevoorrading in de koloniale context), naar de bescherming van bedreigde diersoorten, een ambitie die de dierentuin hoog in het vandaal heeft geschreven in het laatste derde deel van de twintigste eeuw.Pouillard Violette.
