Women are changing the landscape of philanthropy in the United States. This paper is a literature review that examines donor motivations, gender differences and personal values that are shaping how women make decisions in their charitable giving. Additionally, the literature review examines the impact of high-net-worth philanthropists and the influence that volunteerism, giving circles and crowdfunding have on charitable donations to nonprofit organizations. This paper will also discuss implications and propose recommendations for future research
