This research paper examines the therapeutic value of art therapy as an alternative or complementary resource to treat depression, increase self-esteem, and improve self-concept. Problems with self-esteem and self-concept have always increased the possibility of depression. Although there are several ways to treat depression, art therapy introduces a different approach to be used when verbal communication is difficult. There are numerous situations which may alter individuals\u27 perceptions of themselves, such is the case of people who have suffered any kind of abuse or trauma or those who suffer from a disability.
