La vulgarisation du patrimoine géomorphologique : objets, moyens et perspectives. (Popularization of geomorphological heritage : objectives, means and prospects)

A patrimony is a heritage to be protected and transferred. This paper deals with general properties of geomorphology popularization process, therefore with the transmission of a scientific knowledge to the public. The first part shows the reasons for such a process (public request, popularization of others sciences, previous experiences in several countries). The second shows a valorization course of geomorphology by its popularization, according to landforms, types of public and methods. The last one deals with the questions of popularization (identification, recognition, expression, distribution). Popularization leads to patrimonialization of landforms. Its educational approach concerns directly university teaching activities.Cet article traite des processus de vulgarisation de la géomorphologie, donc de la transmission d'un savoir scientifique auprès d'un public. La première partie expose les raisons de cette vulgarisation (attente effective du public, vulgarisation d'autres disciplines, opérations déjà réalisées en France et à l'étranger). La deuxième propose un parcours de valorisation de la géomorphologie par sa vulgarisation, en considérant relief, public et moyens. La dernière aborde les problèmes soulevés par cette vulgarisation : identité, reconnaissance, langage et diffusion. La vulgarisation conduit à la patrimonialisation du relief.
