At the prehispanic site of Coamiles, western Mexico, the archaeological data and the studies of ceramic typology showed the evidence of three main cultural periods : classical (I), ancient post-classical (Ha) and recent post-classical (lib). Thermoluminescence dating of ceramics which had been extracted from two borings of this site («wells» 7 and 8) contributes to define the chronological sequence of the prehispanic occupation at Coamiles. The fine grain technique had been used for the paleodose measurement. On site measurements of environmental radioactivity and laboratory measurements of K, U and Th contents of the ceramics to be dated and surrounding sediments were carried out using low background gamma spectrometry and induced coupled ...
