Genetic resources of pearl millet [Pennisetum americanum (L.) Leeke] consisting of 17,621 cultivated accessions from 42 countries and 68 accessions of 20 wild species are assembled at ICRISAT Center, Patancheru, India, through donations by scientists from various national and international organizations and by organizing expeditions in India and Africa. About 500 g seed of each accession is conserved in medium-term cold storage. Seed increase and rejuvenation is done by cluster bagging during the postrainy season.
