Visible genetic profile of the French sheep during the 15 th century, from the manuscript « Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry ». On six of the miniatures of the 1 5 th century French manuscript « Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry » kept in the Condé Museum (Chantilly, France) one finds 8 sheep flocks with a total of 246 ewes. The animals are polled, with medium length erected ears, long and thin tail, straight nose profile, semi-opened, semi-fine and moderately extended fleece. The colour is mainly white (78 %) but one finds also some solid blacks (black eumelanic) (21 %) and few black piebalds (1 %).
