Abstract. - The eastern Caucasus is an example of correlations between morphostructure caracterized by the importance of soft rocks and neotectonic, the peculiar role of the Caspian base level, climatic changes and present day semiarid prevailing conditions. The plio-pleistocene stratigraphy and tectonic are pointed out together with the resulting landforms, the drainage patterns, the marine and continental terraces.
