Evolution des structures des exploitations agricoles en France. Essais de recherche méthodologique et cartographique

Abstract The team has set out to produce a general map, based en small agricultural regions, of the structure of French farming and the evolution of that structure. Described according to area, the structures are analysed by using existing resources (the Agricultural Census of 1946, 1955, 1963), with alt the limitations implicit therein. The method of mapping is based on dominant features, similar to that proposed by Mr Perpitlou [or mapping land-use. Two types of maps were drawn up. There were those based on a reference model of socio-economic categories which vary according to the regions (Very large, targe, medium, small, very small). There were others of constant logarithmic categories (units of 10, 40, 100, 200 acres). The slow process of evolution does not minimise the differences registered between regions having a sound structure and those which are unsound. Series of maps achieved in this way enable us to be more precise about the location, urgency and extent of the measures to be undertaken by public autharities to improve the structure of farming or to reorientate regional production. that proposed by Mr Perpitlou [or mapping land-use. Décrites par leur dimension spatiale, les structures sont analysées à partir des sources existantes (recensements agricoles de 1946, 1955, 1963), avec toutes les précautions que cela implique. La méthode cartographique est celle des dominantes, analogue à celle proposée par M. Perpitlou pour l'utilisation du sol. Deux types de cartes ont été élaborés, les unes à partir d'un modèle de référence à catégories socio-économiques variables selon les régions (très grandes, grandes, moyennes, petites, très petites), les autres à catégories logarithmiques constantes (coupures à 5, 20, 50, 100 ha). L'évolution, lente, n'atténue pas les écarts enregistrés entre les régions de bonnes et de mauvaises structures. Des séries de cartes réalisées selon cette méthode permettraient de mieux préciser la localisation, l'urgence et l'intensité des actions à entreprendre par les pouvoirs publics pour améliorer les structures d'exploitation ou réorienter les productions régionales.Bonnamour Jacqueline, Boutron J.-C., Mathieu N.
