How do visitors to a traditional exhibition react to a virtual exhibition situated within the former ? How does the public view a virtual exhibition setup and what use is made of it ? These questions, involving research on digital works, are addressed in a usage study of an interactive terminal installed as of March 2006 in the permanent exhibition devoted to animated images in Annecy - CITIA, City of Moving Images. The research method, traditional in sociological terms but original in its interdisciplinary approach, provides the authors with the opportunity to evaluate their findings in regard to digital works usage and the «usage feeling» of these works.
