Ancient literary sources give no evidence for any building program in Rome by Marcus Antonius, and thus he is the only prominent Roman at the end of the Republic who was not a builder in the city. This strains credulity. Upon the death of Caesar he was the most powerful man in Rome. Reconstruction of his building program must remain speculative, but it is probalble that the Temple of Mars Ultor would have been its centerpiece.
