The Spread of Hunting and Changes in the Social Uses of Rural Space On the basis of a study of the statistics of officially registered hunters (which allows him to establish the evolution of the number of hunters from 1945 to 1980 and their distribution by département in 1954 and again in 1975) supplemented by other investigative data, the author suggests that the spread of hunting is not a direct function of the size of the rural population.
