The role of the family in political transmission between generations. History and review of political socialisation studies. This article attempts to review the studies focusing on the family’s political influence. After considering the origins of contemporary debates, the article shows that the advent of scientific considerations has been gradual since the Second World War in research on political socialisation of children. In the early phase, which could be described as “ pre-scientific”, the dominant approaches were relatively categorical.
