ABSTRACT - The fear towards Haiti is a recurrent subject in the Caribbean historiography dealing with the Era of Revolutions. This has been defined as the fear felt by the white people, members of the region's proslavery societies, contemplating the possibility of loosing their proprieties or being killed by rebellious black men, as it happened to others like them during the revolution in Haiti. In this article, this phenomenon is taken into consideration as being an integral part of a wider spectre of signs in which different expressions of «anxiety», generated by the situation itself, are obvious.
