The purpose of this article is to indicate the extent and conditions in which balancing family, working and social life arise among recipients of minimum welfare benefits. This concerns specifically the recipients of the revenu minimum d’insertion, the allocation parent isolé and the allocation de solidarité spécifique. Although the need for help in caring for children is genuine, statutory benefits do not seem tailored to such a specific public given their extremely constrained financial situation and remoteness from the labour market. Friends and family members may help reconcile the situation although this occurs above all when the individual is close to the labour market and may then count on relations to find help to overcome the diffi...
