ABSTRACT- In the last third of the 1 9th century in the Philippines, a feeling of frustration among rising social classes helped to trigger a nationalist reaction. At first, it affected members of the native clergy and intellectuals from the local bourgeoisie, even if the armed struggle did not start before the last decade.
