Based on an archaeological analysis of the buildings, the study sets out to reconstruct the history of a particular urban house. The 12th century building on the street, rebuilt in the 15th century, and the 13th or 14th century building at the rear, provide an opportunity of understanding at least the broad outlines of the various stages. Although our knowledge isfarfrom complète, the buildings reveal important détails in relation to the construction and the mediaeval layout. Afurther significance ofthe édifice is that it imposes an approach which takes into account the complexity of an urban house and highlights the existence oftwo distinct dwellings separated by a courtyard.
