La sociologie asiatique à l’ère de la mondialisation : la situation au Japon, en Chine et en Corée

In this paper, the author outlines the birth and evolution of Sociology as a discipline, in Japan, China and Korea. Sociology appeared there since the end of the 19th century and has followed different paths although the common origin lies in Western sociology. Interests in the specificities of every culture or territory and links with marxist sociology shape, along with the still influencing American sociology, the multiple possibilities to structure the discipline in each country. Sociologists are pursuing the debate about universality of Sociology as a Social Science and the contribution of it from non-Western sociologists. In a survey of present trends, the author stands for the idea that comparative research should play a leading role in the future success of Asian Sociology. This would lead it to become relevant in the Era of globalisation when the solution of social problems take an utmost importance.Ce texte retrace la naissance et l’évolution de la sociologie comme discipline au Japon, en Chine et en Corée. La sociologie y fait son apparition à partir de la fin du XIXe siècle et y suit des voies différentes malgré une origine commune dans la sociologie occidentale. Les préoccupations liées aux spécificités de chaque culture ou territoire et les relations avec la sociologie marxiste forment avec l’influence qui reste majeure de la sociologie américaine les ingrédients d’une combinatoire aux possibilités multiples pour structurer la discipline dans les différents pays. Les sociologues continuent à débattre de l’universalité de la sociologie en tant que science sociale et des apports de sociologues non-occidentaux. Les tendances observées font penser que la recherche comparée devrait jouer un rôle essentiel dans la réussite future de la sociologie asiatique. Elle sera alors une sociologie pertinente pour contribuer à la résolution des grands problèmes à l’ère de la mondialisation.Sasaki Masamichi, Humbert Marc.
