This paper puts forward an ethnographical analysis of the use of visualization in urbanism. As various pieces of work have shown, this plays a central role in the historical development and the present-day practice of this discipline. Research in the field permits the extension of the idea in describing hoiv these visual techniques (maps, plans, figures...) not only define and reduce the extent of the approach in town planning, but also carry out a necessary coordination between the différent elements (time, law and territory) and persons (experts, politicians and users) concerned.Cet article propose une analyse ethnographique de l'usage des visualisations en urbanisme.
