It is commonly accepted that Democritus believed in precognition. How can such a view have been compatible with his vigorously deterministic physics and psychology ? It is suggested that he regarded cases of foreknowledge of events as apparent only, being due to telepathic apprehension of the intentions, subsequently fulfilled, of those who brought them about.Bicknell Peter J.
