The lithic industry of the Blicquy Group (a facies of the Danubian Neolithic from Belgium) comprises a rather low percentage of retouched tools. Microwear analysis shows that several blades have been utilised without having been retouched and that the effective utilisation of the tools was perhaps extended by a systematic hafting within a dry bide mantle fixed in a hollow bone. Microwear analysis reveals also the intense working of hide, meat, wood and plant, in contrast to very little bone or antler working. Results also indicate that the flint toolkit didn't satisfy the full range of needs of the Neolithic inhabitants, either, nor in particular, new needs linked to an economy of sedentary food producers.Cahen Daniel, Gysels Jo.
