The availability of hydrogen storage materials with reliable safety, high capacity, moderate thermodynamic condition and fast kinetic performance is pressing urgent technological and scientific issues around the world. Hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (h-BNNS) possess the B–N polar covalent bonds and usually large specific surface area, which make it a more promising candidate compared with its graphene analogs for solid state hydrogen sorption application.
