How cities finance their security ? This article deals with the amounts mobilized by big and medium cities to finance security. It presents sources of these financings and their allocation concerning security. This article highlights an increase of amounts dedicated to security by cities but it also underlines the fact that financings often take the form of cross holdings between several institutions. This result is based on inquiries of the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies - INSEE -, on data gathered to cities (annual report, financial report and social balance sheet) and on discussions with consultants in security.
