Patent foramen ovale (PFO - patent foramen ovale) is a remnant of the fetal connection between the atria of the heart, allowing the flow of oxygenated blood between the right and left atria of the heart. It is believed that the presence of PFO in an adult may promote a higher incidence of i.a. strokes, TIA, peripheral embolism or myocardial infarction, in the mechanism of crossed embolism (paradoxical) We present the case of a 32-year-old patient with a long history of migraines, with an aneurysm of the atrial septum found in transthoracic echocardiography, diagnosed in the Department of Cardiology after a stroke, confirmed by changes in NMR imaging.
