La atractividad del mercado estadounidense para el destino turístico: La Habana

The present investigation arises because of the problematic of the identification of the most attractive segments of American demand for the competitiveness of the tourist destination Havana. The main objective of the investigation is evaluating the attractiveness of the possible demand segments for the tourist destination of Havana within the mega-market USA taking into account the competitiveness of the destination. The methodology developed by the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) and National Geographic Traveler (NGT) was used for the socio-psychographic segmentation of American travelers. The empirical methods used were the documentary analysis and the Delphi method, through which the indicators were identified and evaluated to measure the attractiveness of the market and the competitiveness of the destination in the conformation of the Attraction- Competitiveness Matrix. The Consolidated segment is the most attractive for the current situation of the tourist destination of Havana.La presente investigación surge ante la problemática de la identificación de los segmentos de demanda estadounidenses más atractivos para la competitividad del destino turístico La Habana y tiene como objetivo valorar la atractividad de los posibles segmentos de demanda para el destino turístico habanero dentro del mega-mercado EE.UU. con respecto a la competitividad del destino. Para ello, se emplea la metodología elaborada por Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) y National Geographic Traveler (NGT) para la segmentación sociopsicográfica de los viajeros estadounidenses. Los métodos empíricos utilizados fueron el análisis documental y el método Delphi, a través del cual se identificaron y valoraron los indicadores para medir el atractivo del mercado y la competitividad del destino en la conformación de la Matriz Atractivo - Competitividad. Se pudo determinar que el segmento de los Consolidados resulta el más atractivo para la situación actual del destino turístico La Habana
