This work aims to investigate the phonetic/phonological processes of palatalization of alveolar occlusives produced in Brazilian Portuguese spoken in Santana do Ipanema from the perspective of Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 2008 [1972]), contrasting the linguistic data collected with the age variable. The research seeks to analyze the palatalization processes in a progressive phonological context, since the production of the phenomenon, in this context, is more accentuated in the studied region.
