Análise da vegetação em área de mata ciliar no Baixo São Francisco, em Sergipe

Pressure for use of lands, mainly by agriculture, cattle and human habitation, has been the main obstacles for conservation of the vegetation of riparian forests. This study aimed to analyze the floristic composition and phytosociological structure of shrubs and trees at a riparian forest fragment in the lower part of the São Francisco River. By the systematic sample method 25 plots of 20 x 20 m (400m2) were used, where all individuals with circumference at the height of the chest (CAP) equal to or larger than 6cm were recorded and had their height estimated. The botanical material was collected and it was taken to the herbarium of Sergipe Federal University (ASE) and the herbarium of the Instituto do Meio Ambiente de Alagoas (MAC), where they were identified and saved up. Families with the greatest number of species were Fabaceae, Myrtaceae, Rubiaceae and Euphorbiaceae. The species with the highest importance value index (IVI) was Croton jacobinensis Baill. also standing out in terms of dominance, frequency, and density. In the intermediate vertical stratum, 75.6% of the total number of individuals was observed. The area presented a diversity considerably above the expected for riparian environments in the caatinga, with the edaphic condition directly associated with this floristic and structural aspect, mainly for the vegetation found in the valley bottom region. A pressão pelo uso do solo, principalmente para expansão agropecuária e ocupação urbana, têm sido os principais obstáculos à preservação das matas ciliares. Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de analisar a composição florística e a estrutura fitossociológica do estrato arbustivo-arbóreo de um fragmento de mata ciliar na região do Baixo Rio São Francisco, no estado de Sergipe. O fragmento foi analisado pelo método de amostragem sistemática, utilizando-se 25 parcelas de 400m² (20m x 20m). Todos os indivíduos com circunferência à altura do peito (CAP) igual ou superior a 6cm foram registrados, tendo seus diâmetros mensurados e alturas estimadas. As amostras de material botânico foram levadas aos herbários da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (ASE) e do Instituto de Meio Ambiente de Alagoas (MAC), onde foram identificadas e depositadas em suas coleções. As famílias com maior número de espécies foram Fabaceae, Myrtaceae, Rubiaceae e Euphorbiaceae. A espécie com o maior índice de valor de importância (IVI), foi Croton jacobinensis Baill. destacando-se também em termos de dominância, freqüência e densidade. No estrato vertical médio observou-se 75,6% do total de indivíduos. O remanescente apresentou uma diversidade consideravelmente acima do esperado para ambientes ciliares em área domínio de Caatinga, tendo a condição edáfica diretamente associada a esse aspecto florístico e estrutural, principalmente para a vegetação encontrada na região de fundo de vale
