This paper discusses the protracted battle between the Kichwa Indigenous peoples of Sarayakuand, the Ecuadorian government. The efforts of the Sarayaku Indigenous peoples' mobilization were partially successful in addressing the human rights violations endured by their community. To explore this, I examine the political and historical context of the conflict, relevant international human rights law, domestic legal procedures, and the community's mobilization efforts. Finally, I conclude by analyzing the movement's partial success through the utilization of the courts. My findings indicate that the use of bottom-up mobilization tactics and the invocation of human rights law were helpful; however, the movement's failure persists as the state ...
