The article focuses on the effect that national wealth has on the happiness of its citizens. It comments on different components of well-being such as overall satisfaction of life, and positive and negative emotions. It states that income is related to well-being but it depended on which facet of well-being was considered, with national income and gross domestic product per capita being the most important factor for general life satisfaction. It mentions that positive and negative emotions were reflected by social psychological prosperity and the fulfillment of social psychological needs
