Territory of the Pontic Greek diaspora. — Over one century — three generations — Pontic Greeks, i.e. Greeks from a region in Turkey bordering the Black Sea, have migrated with their families three or four times within an area comprising the former USSR, Greece and the Western World, all the while remaining farming city-dwellers. Their specific identity is clearly visible in their housing, churches and monasteries as well as in dancing, music and the theatre. Even in Greece itself they have retained their own identity, expressed through the mythical revival of Romania.
