The Ms. 374 of the University Library in Leipzig contains St. Bernard's of Clairvaux Sermones super Cantica canticorum. The text is preceded by two full-page miniatures painted probably by at least two different artists. The difference of style is less important than that of iconography. The programme of the miniature of fol. lv does not seem to refer directly to the content of the sermons. Its typological character has got rather a general draft. On the contrary, although the miniature of fol. 2r, probably added later to complete the programme, repeats the formal divisions of the previous one, it reveals the comprehension of the text of the manuscript.
