In this research essay, we have argued why philosophy makes sense to IS researchers in general and Ph.D. students in particular. We highlighted some basic concepts of philosophical ideas, the philosophy of science, and the philosophy of technology. After that, we discussed how philosophy could also be a rational sense-making or creative sense-making device in the IS theorizing process. While this essay is a kind of capsule for broad philosophical ideas, it does not replace any philosophy course or textbook. Every philosophical idea can quickly fill multiple volumes of a book. However, this essay may work as a stimulator for IS Ph.D. students in creating a philosophical mind
