Vers de nouveaux outils d'analyse géographique combinant SIG, interactivité et possibilités multimédia

Towards New Tools of Geographical Analysis Combining GIS, Interactivity and Multimedia Possibilities. Does evolution of information and communication technologies change capacities for geographical research investigation ? Mass interactivity deeply changes former tools (multidimensional imagery, cartography, multivariate analysis, spreadsheets, animation) especially when they are integrated in a G.I.S. They present rapid means of analysis and a greater efficiency than these of the sum of the same tools used separately. A prototype of software set has been tested on the occasion of a cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development of a State of Central India : Andhra Pradesh. Objectives : 1) To attempt to diagnose local development imbalances on a village scale from the only available source of information everywhere in the country and on a sufficient historical period : the censuses of population. 2) From this experience and from practical works to develop tools and methods likely to improve the formulation, the realization and the following of development micro-programmes intended to serve the regions and the most disadvanta- ged minorities. Analysis tools, simultaneously and interactively used, allow to have complementary sights of the same information, repetitions in the real time with an immediate confirmation of the validity of quantitative or spatial hypotheses and of the found phenomena. The so-carried out "fine spectrogra- phy" allows to find hierarchical typologies with more than a hundred types and under- types if necessary. Clearly jointed thanks to the graphical and cartographical presentations, the results can be quantified, synthesized and transmitted in a few hours.L'évolution des technologies de l'information et de la communication modifie-t-elle les capacités d'investigation de la recherche géographique ? L'interactivité massive transforme profondément les anciens outils (images multi-dimensionnelles, cartographie, analyses multivariées, tableurs, animation) surtout lorsqu'ils sont intégrés dans un SIG. Ils offrent des moyens d'analyse rapides et d'une efficacité très supérieure à celle de la somme des mêmes outils utilisés séparément. Une plate-forme logicielle prototype a été testée à l'occasion d'une coopération avec le Ministère du développement rural d'un État de l'Inde centrale, l'Andhra Pradesh. Objectifs : 1) tenter de diagnostiquer les distorsions locales de développement à l'échelle villageoise à partir de la seule source d'information disponible partout dans le pays et sur une profondeur historique suffisante : les recensements de population. 2) Développer, à partir de cette expérience et de travaux complémentaires de terrain, des outils et des méthodes capables d'améliorer la formulation, la réalisation et le suivi des micro-programmes de développement destinés aux régions et aux minorités les plus défavorisées. Les outils d'analyse, utilisés simultanément et interactivement, permettent des visions complémentaires de la même information, des réitérations en temps réel avec vérification immédiate de la validité quantitative ou spatiale des hypothèses et des phénomènes découverts. La "spectrographie fine" ainsi opérée autorise des typologies hiérarchisées dépassant si nécessaire la centaine de types et sous-types. Clairement articulés entre eux grâce aux présentations cartographiques et graphiques, les résultats peuvent être quantifiés, synthétisés et communiqués en quelques heures.de Golbéry Luc, Chavinier E., Dorian P., Chappuis A., Crédeville A., Rault A.
