The Mortality in the industrial Area of Charleroi during the 19th and 20th Centuries. The aim of this article is to retrace the evolution of mortality in the industrial area of the Charleroi region from the 19th century up to now. More precisely, three key period are analysed : the period of great demographic growth of the first half of 19th century, the turning point of the quick fall of mortality of the 19th-20th centuries and the present period. It is also a comparative analysis as the case of the industrial area of Charleroi is systematically compared with those of other housing settlement : country, traditional cities, big cities, suburban areas...
