A probably wide mesolithic site has been discovered at le bois des Jarries (Saint-Mars-la-Réorthe), on the hills of north-eastern Vendée. Until now all borings show that the lithic industry has been displaced, not only by natural burying into the soil but also because this soil slid over the site slopes. This seemingly homogeneous industry is essentially characterized by a pronounced miniaturization, a high proportion of microburins and a great number of broken pieces. In the present state of research, especially in the view of the lack of points with retouched base and judging from the type repartition of microlithic armatures, this industry may likely be attributed to a middle or early Mesolithic with sauveterrian affinities.Un gisement m...
